The deCAPitated bottles

For my first iteration, I made a decorative candle holder. The idea is for the candle, probably a votive to sit on the bottom blue caps (seen below) and for the light to shine through the translucent caps and also the small spaces between the caps to create a warm glow. The translucent caps can be replaced by opaque caps to create a more dramatic lighting effect by only allowing the light through the top and through the small spaces between the caps.


Oh Yeah.
Eriko's first iteration was a toilet paper roll holder.




The building process

For our collaborative iteration Eriko and I decided to take the decorative aspect of my 1st iteration, and the useful aspect of hers and combine those and make a baby mobile to hang above an infant's crib. We used recycled hangers, the bottle caps, and wire to hang them with. The finished product would probably use recycled fishing wire, plastic, or string instead of the wire for safety reasons. The glue we used on our projects was hot glue in place of EcoBond, an eco-friendly adhesive that adheres plastics.

The Baths of Diocletian

This is my 2x4 project. The assignment was to create a self-sustaining system using an 18-inch piece of wooden 2x4. We had to make no less than 6 cuts, and we had to use all the wood which hadn't been turned into sawdust. We couldn't use any adhesives, screws, or nails.

Mine is very simple, but as you can probably tell from my previous projects, that's my style. I appreciate simple lines, curves, and shapes.
